My quest is to finish the San Francisco Marathon in July, this is my #1 goal. The bonus is to get healthy and drop some lbs in the process, seeing 161.2 this morning pretty much sealed that. I will spend much of the day in conference with my diet and training to find some middle ground and understanding.
Since Monday is listed as “Rest” on my schedule that will be my weigh-in day.
Homework via Hal Higdon Novice 1 is as follows:
Monday - rest
Tuesday - strength (a.m.) w/ 3 miles (p.m.)
Wednesday - 4 miles
Thursday - strength (a.m.) w/ 3 miles (p.m.)
Friday - rest
Saturday - 7 long run
Sunday - Cross
Have a wonderful week and see you on the other side!
6 miles.
Well, let me preface this post by mentioning I live in Los Angeles, downtown. I had a number of opportunities to take a moment at street lights. As I tired around mile 3 and 5 I did take a walk break.
But to stay on my feet for 1:14 minutes and not quit, not surrender makes me very proud!
Next long run is 7 miles. I have no doubt I’ll get’er done!
I’m not a runner, not even close. Over the next 15 weeks I will set out to prove something to myself that will end at the finish line in San Francisco.
”Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever.” - @ LanceArmstrong
This is something I know very well, quitting does last forever. I stare at it, I walk with it, sleep with it, eat with it, in some ways its my greatest roadblock. What will happen if and when I get out of my own way and feel confident enough to achieve something that I’ve never felt I could do.
Tomorrow bright and early I go for a run, my first long run of my training plan. While I’m not optimistic, I promise I will get through those six miles even if it takes me most of the morning.
I’ve created a tumblr 1000 times and deleted them shortly thereafter like clock work. My attempts to be a better me, in search of triumphs and dreams usually ends with me quitting. Let’s try one more time.
